May 10, 2009: Snorkeling, Japanese, and Farewells

Since I had not been feeling all that well Friday and was unable to go on the catamaran tour with many in our group, some of us decided to go out today - Marta, Erik and Kaisa!, Crazy Ed and Jeannie, Ayal, Cami, Danielle, Joanna and Rick. We had a nice-sized group for climbing the falls, and thankfully I was feeling pretty good.

Anyone who knows me knows that boats and I do not mix very well! Kinda surprising considering we are going on a cruise for our Honeymoon. But anyways, I was a little nervous about getting on the catamaran, especially with not feeling so well the past few days. But I really wanted to go to Dunn's River Falls and snorkeling, so I drugged myself up with Dramamie and off we went!

We had to wait a little while for everyone to show up and get their gear, so I took that time to play with Kasia in the sand.

The day was slightly over-cast but still really pretty. We got some really nice shots from the water of the resort.

It seemed like we were all a little hesitant on the boat at first. Everyone was just sitting in their seats and enjoying the water. I was told to sit all the way in the back since the motion would be the least there...

But I was feeling pretty good and decided that the front of the boat on the mesh was the way to go! I was so glad to have just sucked it up and headed up there. It was so much fun. At one point, we hit a wave so hard we got drenched. I was sure K had flown off the boat!

But no, she and Cami had managed to hang on!

And soon enough, we could see the falls

There is a little missing here as we did not bring our camera to the falls with us. So I have to rely on others for this...more to come later!

After climbing the falls, which was HARD, we headed back to our boat for our next stop...snorkeling!

The sun was shining but you could see the clouds in the mountains. They never did make it down to us, thankfully.

Everyone was soaking up the sun and enjoying themselves. I started getting a little worried again, so I popped another Dramamine. Probably not the best idea as I was completely out of it!!

So we pulled up to the reef, got our gear on, and headed into the water. Jim and i had never snorkeled before, and it was a small learning curve for me. Once I was able to keep my mask and snorkel clear, and learned to just stay calm, it was amazing. We actually snorkeled right off the beach the next day, we loved it so much. Half of our honeymoon consists of snorkeling!

After about 30-45 minutes, it was time to come in...and Rick was there to greet us:

So...back to the resort. We had some fun music and some very strong rum punch to pass the time.

Back at the resort we changed and prepared for dinner. Dana and Ed were kind enough to make reservations for the friends at Tushima, the Japanese restaurant. We ditched the fam and headed off with the friends (sorry fam...we love you!!!), but we did make plans to meet back up with everyone after dinner for that evening's show.

Tushima was good. We had to tip Ayal and Jeremy's way in, but it was in no way to capacity. The service was a bit slow, but the food made up for it! I was still fairly drugged and having trouble getting with it. But managed...and Felicia crawled out of her hangover to join us. Yey Fe!!

So we made our way over to the show, which I cannot remember in terms of theme. This was the last night for Aunt Colleen and Susan, The Privette's, Cami and Danielle, Felicia, and Joanna. It was bittersweet, but we enjoyed our last show with them and had some good laughs.

Ed and Dana made it on stage for the pre-show tonight! They had to dance different styles. Ed is a GREAT dancer, and Dana is not bad herself!

And apparently, tonight was Jam Around the World... I remember it being pretty cheesy, but I guess they all were!

At the end of each show, the entertainment staff pulls people from the audiance to dance. I wised up and would make a bathroom trip right around this time. Apparently, Dana, Erik and Danielle didn't get the memo.

And with that, we said goodnight and goodbye to the early leavers. Tomorrow would be our last full day in Jamaica, and our trip was coming to a close...
